Busy Bees Honey Workshop

The Busy Bees workshop is a great way for kids to learn about bees! Run by the lovely Holly, a Yarra Valley beekeeper, these engaging and interactive sessions will stimulate all the senses! They are tailored to provide age appropriate information and allow time for children to guide the discussion and ask lots of questions.

What will we do in the workshop?

  • Observation hive with a glass panel so that children can observe a real hive in action
  • Demonstration of beekeeping suit and equipment
  • Child sized suit and veil for the children to try
  • Beeswax to pass around and smell
  • Honey tasting
  • What will we talk about in the workshop?
  • What makes up a hive
  • Bee lifecycle
  • What is involved in beekeeping and the equipment used
  • How bees help our environment and how we can help them
  • Bees importance on food systems and sustainability
  • How to respond or behave around bees in our natural spaces.

The Busy Bees workshop lasts for approximately 30 minutes and is suitable for children over the age of 3. Parents are welcome to come and sit in with their children during the session.

Flemings Gardening Workshop

Fleming’s Nurseries, Australia’s leading name in all things trees, will be joining our Blossom Festival this year to share their 100 years of growing expertise. During the workshops the Flemings team will be providing detailed information on how to plant fruit trees, care for them and maintain them for the long term.

Fleming’s Nurseries, Australia’s leading name in all things trees, will be joining our Blossom Festival this year to share their 100 years of growing expertise. During the workshops the Flemings team will be providing detailed information on how to plant fruit trees, care for them and maintain them for the long term.  Come prepared with all your nitty gritty questions (tree related of course), for this is a unique opportunity to gain advice first hand from the tree experts! This inspiring, easy-to-grasp, one-hour photographic walking tour is the ultimate excursion into the boldness and beauty of nature – set during the renowned Blossom Festival at Cherry Hill Orchard in the Yarra Valley, Victoria.

Whether you know your photography or are just starting out, this tranquil experience offers the perfect backdrop to take rich, gorgeously detailed photos. Under the guidance of two expert Nikon School Lecturers, Josh Beames & Cormac Hanrahan and an official orchard guide, you’ll wander through avenues of luscious cherry blossom trees and admire their brilliant light pink colours under the Yarra Valley sky.

In order to take part in this tour, you’ll need to have access to your own camera, and the cost of the experience covers not only the tour, but also entry to the orchard.
